The Power of Texture in Edgebanding

Updated: Oct 31

In today’s furniture and cabinetry design, texture has become just as important as color and pattern. It influences not only how a surface looks but also how it feels - creating depth, warmth, and authenticity.

Teknaform™ currently offers 32 distinct textures, ranging from classic woodgrains to premium finishes. This texture library continues to grow, ensuring customers always have access to the latest looks in the industry. To produce a new texture, a steel embossing roll is engraved with a carefully designed pattern that replicates the desired look and feel. This roll is then used in production to press the texture into the surface of the edgebanding. This process requires both precision and artistry—every groove and line must be exact to capture the realism of natural wood, leather, or other materials.

The industry itself has evolved to prioritize textured edgebanding and its ability to delivery luxury at an affordable price point. At Teknaform™, we stay at the forefront by collaborating with major board manufacturers such as Arauco, Formica, Tafisa, and others. These partnerships allow us to remain aligned with the latest launches, ensuring our textures always deliver a seamless match and are readily available long before laminates launch into the marketplace.

For those seeking something truly unique, we also provide the option to create custom textures. Because of the craftsmanship, time and equipment involved, creating a new embossing roll involves additional costs, but it gives customers the ability to design a truly one-of-a-kind finish.

By growing our library, offering custom options, and staying connected to market trends, we make sure texture goes beyond the surface—bringing every design to life.
